Pawsitively SAFE was founded in 2016, by Julie Rasmussen and Holly Cuciz, both volunteers who do TNR, RTF, and shelter work. Disturbed by the high numbers of healthy animals being euthanized in our local shelters, and seeing the need to improve coordination between organizations, we formed PAWS in order to achieve more positive outcomes for animals on the streets and in the shelters.
With an unwavering commitment to the well being of community cats and their kittens, we will go into any neighborhood that needs our help. We work to build positive partnerships and relationships in neighborhoods and with local organizations to help community cats.
We fulfill a vital need in our community. East Contra Costa county has a severe cat overpopulation problem, coupled with a limited amount of low cost vet resources. PAWS transports the cats we trap to low cost clinics for Spay and Neuter services for low-income, elderly, or simply overwhelmed people, who care about their community cats, but do not have the means to have them fixed. We want to increase the amount of TNR being accomplished in East County and the number of kittens that can be removed from the streets. Ultimately, this will reduce the number of cats brought into shelters.
We are a non-profit 01(c)(3) animal rescue organization (EIN 81-1158380). All your donations are tax-deductible. We are a completely volunteer-run organization so you can rest assured that 100% of your donation goes directly to helping the animals.
