What We Do

Have you seen stray cats in your neighborhood or wandering around town? Did you ever wonder who takes care of them  or what happens to them? What about the kittens?

This is where PAWS steps in. Together with our volunteers and supporters, we:

  • get kittens off the streets and into foster homes with the goal of placing them into a rescue or to find them a forever home;
  • help to place special needs kittens in appropriate homes or with specialized rescue;
  • work diligently to trap and spay the outdoor mama cats of kittens we rescue;
  • manage our kitten program to get the maximum number of kittens off the streets;
  • assist in local neighborhoods to help control the population community cats and make sure they are taken care of;
  • loan traps and provide assistance to community cat caretakers;
  • trap and transport communitiy cats and kittens to spay/neuter clinics and recover them from surgery;
  • assist low-income residents with spay/neuter for their pets;
  • conduct outreach about the importance of spay and neuter;
  • rescue animals in danger of being euthanized at local shelters; and
  • work to bring more resources to East County for homeless animals.

For assistance trapping community cats in your neighborhood, lease call the East County Cat Help Line at 925-473-5001.

The hotline is used to track and assign community cat trap jobs to the appropriate volunteer for assistance.
